Antigua melt down St Kitts to stay alive

GROS ISLET, St Lucia, August 9, 2017 - Antigua and Barbuda’s Opposite Hitters – Jamarie James counted 18 points and Adrian Constant - 16 points, propped their team to a 3-1 (30-28, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24) victory over St Kitts and Nevis, to stay alive in the men’s Group E of the NORCECA Zone of the FIVB World Championships Qualifiers second round at the Beausejour Indoor facility.

But, it was St Kitts and Nevis’ Outside Hitter- Shawn Seabrooks who had a game high 22 points, while another Opposite Hitter – St Clair Hodge, with 14 points, led their team’s scoring.

Antigua and Barbuda edged out St Kitts and Nevis 45-44 in Attacks and 8-7 in Blocks. Similarly, it was Antigua and Barbuda that committed fewer errors – 42, while St Kitts and Nevis, transgressed 45 times.

The win by Antigua and Barbuda put them with a 1-1 win/loss ratio and five points in total.  Antigua and Barbuda was beaten by Dominica 3-1, in both teams’ opening match.

Dominica, like Antigua and Barbuda, has one win and one loss, and is on five points.

Meanwhile, St Vincent and the Grenadines heads the standings on eight points, gathered from their 3-1 victories against St Kitts and Nevis and Dominica. 

St Kitts and Nevis, with two losses, has two points.
