GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 11, 2010 –
Canadian women’s pair of Katherine Zakrzewski
and Julie Rodriguez defeated Nirian Sinal and
Kirenia Ballar of Cuba to claim the gold medal
at the fourth leg of the NORCECA Beach
Volleyball Circuit.
Zakrzewski/Rodriguez of CAN-1 needed three sets
2-1 (21-18, 13-21, 17-15) to dominate Cubans
Sinal/Ballar who have taken the silver medal in
the last two stops of the circuit.
In the semi finals, Sinal/Ballar beat Orellana/Ramirez
of Guatemala 2-0 (21-15, 21-15); while Canadians
Zakrzewski/Rodríguez defeated Morales y Alfaro
of Costa Rica by score of 2-1 (21-17, 14-21,
16-14).
Guatemalans Orellana and Ramírez took the bronze
medal by defeating Ingrid Morales and Natalia
Alfaro of Costa Rica in a Central American duel
by score of 2-1 (19-21, 21-19, 15-11).
