meeting of Organizing Committee and NORCECA
Officials in Guatemala
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 25, 2010 – The
Organizing Committee of the NORCECA Girls’ Youth
Continental Championship held a joint meeting
with the members of the event’s Control
Committee on Sunday chaired by Ms. Marta Centeno
de Sajche.
The organizers and the officials from NORCECA
discussed the different aspects of the
organization ahead of the General Technical
Meeting to be held on Monday night with the
presence of Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
President of NORCECA.
Ms. Centeno de Sajche introduced the members of
the Control Committee and then presented Mr.
Hector Cifuentes, Treasurer of the Guatemala
National Federation, who welcomed all the
participants.
On Sunday afternoon, the NORCECA officials will
made the first inspection visit to the Guatemala
Dome, which is competition venue and also to the
training facilities.
Ten NORCECA teams will compete for one ticket to
the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and
three spots for next year’s FIVB Girls’ Youth
World Championship in Turkey.
Teams are: Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago and Costa
Rica in Pool A, Puerto Rico, El Salvador and
Guatemala in Pool B and Jamaica, Canada, United
States and Dominican Republic in Pool C.
The two pool winners with better points-ratio
advance directly to the semifinal round and the
third will compete in the quarterfinals against
the three teams of second place.
