Barracudas and Caribs crowned in St Croix

 

   

ST CROIX, Virgin Islands, October 19, 2015 - The St. Croix Central High School 21st Annual Varsity Volleyball Tournament was held this past weekend at the Ronald Charles Basketball Arena in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

 

In the female division the top four finishers at the end of the preliminary games were Educational Complex Barracudas, Charlotte Amalie High School Chicken Hawks, Antilles Hurricanes and Central High Lady Caribs.

 

In the semifinals the Lady Barracudas defeated the Lady Caribs straight sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-22 while the Lady Hawks defeated the Lady Hurricanes in 2 out of 3 sets with scores of 25-27, 25-16 and 15-11.

 

In the Championship match the Lady Barracudas coached by Mrs Ophelia Jackson defeated the Lady Hawks 2-1 (22-25, 25-11, 15-7). The top scorer for the Barracudas was J. Khrysti with 20 points and Khristin Rosa had 12 kills. Eshae Asha had 12 points for the Lady Hawks.

 

In the female Bronze Medal game the Lady Caribs defeated the Lady Hurricanes 2-0 (25-23, 25-20).


In the male division the top four finishers were the Good Hooe/Country Day Panthers, Central High School Caribs, Educational Complex Barracudas and the Charlotte Amalie Chicken Hawks.

 

In the semifinals the Caribs defeated the Hurricanes 2-0 (25-23, 25-20) while the Panthers defeated the Barracudas 2-0 (25-18, 27-25).

 

In the Championship match the Panthers coached by Ms. Laurie Dunton defeated the Caribs 2-1 (21-25, 25-15, 15-12). The top scorers for the panthers were Michael Ferrante with 12 points and Jordan Lake with 15 kills. For the Caribs,  Shakeel James had 16 points and 12 kills. 

 

In the male Bronze Medal match the Barracudas defeated the Chicken Hawks 2-0 (25-21, 25-23).


The Female Most Valuable Player was Khristin Rosa and the Male Most Valuable Players was Jordan Lake.
