Canada to remain in Peru for Pan Am Cup

LIMA, Peru, July 1, 2019 – Canada’s team will remain in Peru after winning the Women’s Challenger Cup, a qualifier to next year’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Sunday night, to take part in the Pan American Cup.

The team will now travel to the Pan Am Cup in Trujillo, Peru (July 4 to 15), with a minor change to the roster of Brie O'Reilly replacing Megan Cyr.

Canada will play in Pool A alongside Argentina, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Peru.

The North American side finished in third in last year’s Pan Am Cup in Santo Domingo for its second podium position in the history of the event and first since the inaugural edition in 2002.

Coach Tom Black said the team and staff are all concerned about player Autumn Bailey, who sustained a knee injury late in the second set, and they are waiting to hear more about her condition.

The Canadian roster is the following:

Jessie Niles, Autumn Bailey, Kiera Van Ryk, Kyla Richey (C), Danielle Smith, Alicia Ogoms, Alexa Gray, Andrea Mitrovic, Jennifer Cross, Shainah Joseph, Kristen Moncks, Alicia Perrin, Brie O’Reilly and Emily Maglio.
