Caribs and Lady Rays triumph in St Thomas

 

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, October 28, 2014 - Central High School  Caribs won the boys’ segment of the Ivanna Eudora Kean Volleyball Invitational Tournament with a 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-17 victory over Good Hope/Country Day School Panthers.

 

Leonardo Castillo, named the MVP, led the winners with 12 points followed by Miguel Lopez, who tallied nine. Jordan Lake finished with 12 points for the defeated team.

 

"My front line played amazing today,” Coach Edwin Sankitts said. "The offense was running at a high level and we utilized a lot of different players. Lopez was excellent in the middle while Castillo and Donadelle played with a lot of intensity.”

 

The Ivanna Eudora Kean Lady Rays obtained some form of satisfaction after avenging two losses from the season. The Lady Rays swept the Charlotte Amalie High School Chicken Hawks 25-21, 25-15, 25-15 to win their own tournament.

 

"The win was awesome" said Lady Rays coach Jennifer Matthias. "It was a good feeling to win at home."

 

The Lady Rays finished in second place at the Central High School tournament last weekend and received major contribution from the female MVP Nickoya Lindo in the championship game.

 

Cadahbra Peterson had a match-high 13 points for the Lady Rays while Eshae Aska added 10. Delilah Garcia chipped in 6 points for the Chicken Hawks.
