Castro Verdugo unanimously elected president of NCVA

 

   

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 20, 2015 – Saul Castro Verdugo of Mexico was unanimously selected as president of the North Central Volleyball Association one of the four zones within NORCECA Confederation.

 

The zonal association which consists of Canada, United States, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico held its general assembly on Wednesday on the eve of the three-day meetings of the NORCECA Executive Committee and Board of Administration.

 

The NCVA general assembly had the presence of Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and Jose Luis Jimenez, president and general secretary of NORCECA, respectively, as well as Jaime Lamboy and Giovanni Gautreaux, presidents of the legal commissions of FIVB and NORCECA.

 

“I am really pleased with your support and confidence,” Castro Verdugo said. “I am committed to work as hard as possible to contribute to the growth of volleyball and to continue strengthening the North Central zone as the backbone of NORCECA.

 

“I am open to receive your ideas and to work closely with each one of the National Federations grouped in our association,” he said.

 

Castro Verdugo, who currently is the first executive vice president of NORCECA and also FIVB vice president, has been a consistent contributor to the development of volleyball in the region as president of several world and continental volleyball events in Baja California, Mexico.

 

He is also general director of the Sports and Physical Culture Institute of Baja California where a NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Center is currently in operation hosting courses and seminars covering different topics.
