Coaches ambitious ahead of WGP Pool H1 in Bangkok

BANGKOK, Thailand, July 20, 2017 - The head coaches and captains of Italy, the Dominican Republic, Turkey and Thailand attended a press conference at the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel Bangkok on Thursday ahead of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Pool H1 encounters at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium from July 21 to 23.

Italy coach Davide Mazzanti said:
“It’s the most important week for our team because it will be the last pool to determine our chance of qualifying for the Nanjing Finals. We will push hard for our target. To accomplish it, we have to do our best. I wish every team the best of luck.”

Turkey coach Giovanni Guidetti said:
“I’m very happy to play in Bangkok again, where fans will cheer for their team all the way. We still have the same team, but we will try to use new players. Our team were not that successful in the first two weeks, so I hope that my team will claim more victories here.”

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek said:
“I’m very glad that my team will play here. It gives us a chance to test our players. I admit that this pool is very important to our team and we will try to do our best. However, due to the difference of time and conditions, we were very tired after travelling here. I found that it’s very difficult to adjust our team to the new conditions and maintain our performance.”

Thailand coach Danai Sriwacharamaytakul said:
“Despite playing at home, I admit that we have a mountain to climb. The Dominican Republic, Italy and Turkey are very strong and it’s not easy to beat them. My team players are young and they have gradually been improving. I think development in my team has gained some recognition. However, we will try our best and hope that home fans will help boost our team’s morale and confidence.”
