Colombia finishes seventh with five-set win over Argentina

LIMA, Peru, June 25, 2017 – Colombia outplayed Argentina in a roller coaster 3-2 (25-11, 21-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-7) for the seventh place of the XVI Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup at Manuel Bonilla Coliseum in Lima.

Argentina’s Coach Guillermo Orduna preferred to rest veteran players Emilce Sosa and Paula Nizetich and only used big spiker Lucia Fresco sporadically during the contest.

Dayana Segovia had a match-high 26 points for Colombia while teammate María Martinez added 17 in the victory. Yeisy Soto and Giselle Perez contributed 13 and 12, respectively.

Tanya Acosta, Sol Piccolo and Camila Hiruela each scored 12 points for the defeated side.

Colombia held a 16-10 advantage in the blocking category and edged their opponents 7-6 in the aces department.
