On the Costa Rican side, Richard Smith Hall finished with 8 tallies. “We tried to play our game, but we were not able to do it as we wanted. We faced a very strong team,” recognized Javier Alvarez, captain of Costa Rica.

“For us this is an event that can be important in terms of a learning experience. Our national team is in a growing process, so we are trying to get the best of it. Cuba is a very powerful team,” Cesar Salas, coach of Costa Rica said.

“It seemed so easy but it wasn’t for us. I liked the attitude shown by Costa Rica at the beginning  of the match. There were some details we have to improve as we have the goal to get a spot in the final four. There is a wider expectation for us in the Olympic classification process,” stated Rodolfo Sánchez, coach of Cuba.

Captain Rolando Cepeda, agreed with his coach. “We play our game and we did it. All teams are difficult, but we have kept our mind in terms of playing fundamentally well to finish among the best four.”
