For Trinidad & Tobago the top scorers were Krystle Esdelle with 12 points and Channon Thompson who had 11 points.

“We played very well, as a team and to start winning is positive for our team. Our objective is to finish among the top four of the group and to get that we need to win at least three matches,” said Cuban coach Roberto Garcia.

“We have followed the instructions of our coach the best way possible. The first match is always difficult but we were able to win. Our goal, as our coach said, is to qualify to the next round,” said Matienzo, the captain of Cuba.

“This team only has practiced two complete sessions and it was here in Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, what they have done against Cuba is to my satisfaction,” said Cuban Francisco Cruz, coach of Trinidad & Tobago.

“We are facing some inconveniences in our country and we have not been together enough time to know each other and improve our game. Like in all places there are inconveniences and we don’t escape from that,” said Renele Forde, captain of Trinidad & Tobago.
