Cubans Alayo & Ayon finish Pool E of YOG with 2-1 mark

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, October 12, 2018 - Cubans Jorge Alayo and Miguel Ayón edged Jorge Riveros and Gonzalo Melgarejo of Paraguay in straight sets 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) to finish with a 2-1 win-loss record in Pool E of the Boys’ Beach Volleyball Tournament of the Youth Olympic Games on Friday.

In Pool D, Puerto Ricans Randall Santiago and William Rivera finished pool play with a 1-2 record after losing a close battle with Arsenio Guvu and Jorge Monjane of Mozambique 2-1 (15-21, 21-19, 15-11).

Santiago and Rivera had lost also a three-set duel against Leon and Jurado of Ecuador in their first match of the event.

In the Girls’ tournament:

In Pool F, Karla Romero and Atenas Gutiérrez of Mexico captured their second victory against one loss after routing Kayla Arends and Mali Rafini (1-2) of Aruba by scores of 2-0 (21-9, 21-10).

Dana Roskic and Erika Vermette of Canada concluded their participation in Pool B with a 2-0 (21-8, 21-8) comfortable win over Adica Burton and Ethlyne Lockhart, of Dominica. Both pairs entered the match winless in two previous outings
