Dominican Republic cruise past Costa Rica

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 8, 2018 – Host Dominican Republic cruised past Costa Rica in straight sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-16) in Pool A of the Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup at Ricardo Arias Pavillion on Sunday night.

 

Dominican Gina Mambru was the only player in the match who reached double digits in the scoring charts with 11 points as coach Marcos Kwiek rotated their players in the lopsided contest.  Bethania de la Cruz added 9 in the victory and Gaila Gonzalez and Prisilla Rivera chipped in with 7 apiece. Tannia Carazo had 9 as the best for Costa Rica.

 

The Dominicans dominated the match from start to finish with a huge advantage in attacks 41-21, blocks 11-1 and aces 6-1.
