Dominican Republic seventh place at Boys U19 Pan Am Cup

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, May 28, 2022.- Dominican Republic finished seventh place of the fourth edition of the Boys’ U19 Pan Am Cup after defeating Honduras 3-1 (19-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-13) on Saturday in Guatemala City.

Dominican Republic concluded the event with a 2-4 2in-loss record and Honduras with 0-5.

Dominican Republic quickly recovered from falling in the first set, prevailing with a huge 40-19 advantage in attacks and a comfortable 5-2 margin in serves. Honduras held a slim 7-6 margin in blocks. Dominican Republic allowed 35 points from errors and scored on 43 from Honduras.

Dominican opposite hitter Franklyn De Jesus Reyes carried his team to beat Honduras with a match-high of 24 points on 19 kills, 3 blocks and 2 aces.

Amaury Martinez, Head Coach Dominican Republic: “We weren’t concentrated enough in the first set and too confident, we adjusted our blocking to execute easily and we improved in receiving”.

Víctor Rodas, Head Coach Honduras: “Los muchachos se aplicaron en lo táctico en el primer set, especialmente en el saque, nuestros salidores también ejecutaron bien y trabajamos mucho la defensa. Lastimosamente no lo pudimos mantener todo el partido”.
