Dominican Women’s Team Arrives in Japan


NARITA, Japan, September 16, 2018 - The Dominican Republic Women National Volleyball Team foreseen to participate in the FIVB 2018 World Championship to be held in different cities in Japan, arrived today at the Narita International Airport after a long journey of 29 hours to continue their travel to the Okayama International Airport in Okayama City.


The Dominican National Team ranked 8th in the FIVB World Ranking and that finished 5th in the past FIVB World Championship held in Italy in 2014, is programed to establish a training camp in Okayama City organized by the Okayama City Government and the Okayama Volleyball Association. 


During the course of the training camp, several friendly matches will be played with the Bulgarian Women National Volleyball Team and the local Seagulls Volleyball Team, a First Division Professional team of the Japanese National League.  


The Dominican Republic Women National Volleyball Team Technical Director, Prof. Marcos Kwiek will be concluding a successful training program before their first official match against Serbia.


The roster of the Dominican National team includes the libero star player Brenda Castillo; outside hitters Bethania de la Cruz, Priscilla Rivera, Yonkaira Peña Isabel and Brayelin Martinez; opposite players Gina Mambru and Gaila Gonzalez; middle blockers, Annerys Vargas, Candida Arias Perez, Lisvel Eve and Jineiry Martinez; setters Niverka Marte and Camil Dominguez and defense specialist Larysmer Martinez.


The Team Staff Assistant Coach Wagner Pacheco , Wilson Sanchez, Medical Doctor Joana Pimentel, Physiotherapist Cesar Villalona, Trainer Marcelo Cezarano and Statistician Yeivic Moises Jimenez, complete the Dominican Republic National Volleyball Team Delegation.
