Dominicans and Japanese finish in a draw in two matches

TOKYO, Japan, August 31, 2016 – Dominican Republic and Japan U23 female volleyball teams shared honors in matches second and third of their friendly series as both contests finished in a 2-2 tied score on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Tuesday’s match, the Dominicans took the first and third sets by scores of 25-22 while the Japanese won the second and fourth 25-21 and 25-23, respectively.

In Wednesday’s encounter, the hosts Japanese claimed the first two sets 25-23, 25-21 and the visitors took the next two by identical scores of 25-21.

Gaila Gonzalez registered a match-high 32 points and Jineiry Martinez had 16 as the top two Dominican scorers.

The Dominican Republic is in Japan responding to an official invitation to train and play in preparation for the U23 Women’s Cup to be held in Lima and Ica, Peru from September 17 to 26.
