Easy victory for Dominicana over Guatemala

 

TRUJILLO, Peru, July 7, 2019 - Dominican Republic crushed Guatemala in three sets (25-6, 25-8, 25-10), in the first game of the second day of action of the Pan American Cup Senior Women's Volleyball.

 

In one hour the Dominican team got the victory with the high performance of Yonkaira Peña with 21 points and Marifranchi Rodríguez with 12 points. Ruth Gómez was Guatemala´s best scorer with 8 points.

 

Dominicana got 13 direct service points, with 8 points by Peña. The Guatemalans had problems with their reception and facilitated the offensive of the winning team that had advantage in attack 32 to 12 and block 8 to 2.

 

Marcos Kwiek's team scored through 22 unforced errors of the rival, reducing their own to 10.

 

Dominican coach, Marcos Kwiek: Today I was able to rotate my starting players, now all the time have rhythm of the game and we have the group ready for any eventuality.

 

Coach of Guatemala, David Aldana: Although Dominican Republic did not present their regular team, all the group have a high level and represent a difficult game; with a very powerful serve that complicated us. Today I rescue the work of the youngest girls of the team they responded with a lot of attitude and concentration.

 

Guatemala will return on Monday 08 at 4:00 p.m. to the Gran Chimú Coliseum, to face Cuba. And at 6:00 pm, it will be the Dominican turn to face the local team, Peru.
