First Round of Pan Am Cup successfully concludes in Huacho

 

HUACHO, Peru June 12, 2013 - For three days the city of Huacho lived a great experience with the best volleyball teams from the continent performing at the Women’s Movistar Pan American Cup.

 

Huacho hosted the Pool C matches, and on the final day of the first round, all the volunteers assigned to the different commissions at the “Mayor Francisco Antonio Suarez Pichilingue” in the Province of Huaura as well as the members of the Control Committee of Norceca and CSV participated at the official photo session.

 

“We want to thank the Pan American Volleyball Union President, Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and also to NORCECA First Executive Vice President, Mr. Saul Castro Verdugo for their confidence and the opportunity to fulfill this responsibility,” said Alberto Arreola Sanchez, competition director in the host city of Huacho.

 

“Everybody did a great job, they showed a great commitment in this task force. Judith Sandino from Nicaragua, was in charge of the VIS; Marcelo Wangler from Brasil, with the Appealing Sub-Commission; Guillermo Paredes from Argentina worked with the Referees, Doctor Julio Echevarria was in charge of the Medical Commission and we also want to thank Arturo Couoh and Ernesto Beltre who were in charge of Press and Photography,” he added.

 

The President of the Norceca Finance Commission and also FIVB member appreciated the cooperation and support of the Local Organizing Committee that was directed by legendary Seoul 1988 Olympic medalist, Rosa Garcia.

 

“We are very glad and delighted for the way the competition was developed. It was a great chance to bring the best of Americas in terms of women’s volleyball with the teams of Brazil, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Mexico,” he said.

 

The referees assigned for this venue were Marvin Mora (Costa Rica), Lourdes Pérez (Cuba), Rocío Huarcaya (Perú) and Andrew Robb (Canadá).

 

Arreola also talked about the coordination between the Peruvian Volleyball Federation, presided by Luis Linares. He also appreciated the cooperation of the transportation and operations areas at the competition venues.

 

“They helped us a lot. All the people who are joint for this tournament have given the best. There are members from many countries and I also want to thank the Peruvian Sport Institute for providing such a great place like the coliseum,” Arreola added.

 

“It is also very important to appreciate the Mexican Volleyball Federation and his president, Mr. Jesus Perales Navarro for the confidence for us to colaborate in benefit of our sport.”
