High School teams of St Croix triumph at home

 

CHRISTIANSTEDT, St Croix, October 20, 2014 – The St. Croix Central High School held their Twentieth Annual Varsity Volleyball Tournament at the Ronald Charles Basketball Arena on October 16-19, 2014 and the St. Croix teams parlayed home island advantage in a couple of titles over the weekend.

 

In the female division the Educational Complex High School Barracudas and the Central High School Lady Caribs finished first in their pools.

 

The Lady Barracudas defeated the Lady Devilrays in 3 straight sets with scores of 26-24, 25-13,  25-21 to win the championship. The top scorers for the Lady Barracudas were Khrysti Rosa and Khrystin Rosa who had 9 points apiece. For the Lady Devilrays, Nikoya Lindo had 12 points.

 

The bronze medal went to the Lady Caribs who defeated the Lady Panthers in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-23, 25-18.

 

In the semifinals the Central High School Lady Caribs lost to the Ivanna Eudora Kean Devilrays in two straight sets with scores of 25-22, 25-22. In the other semifinal game the Educational Complex High School Barracudas defeated the Good Hope/Country Day Panthers in 2 out of 3 sets with scores of 23-25, 25-6, 15-7.

 

In the male division the Good Hope/Country Day School Panthers and the Central High School Caribs finished first in their pool.

 

The Panthers defeated the Caribs in four sets with scores of 25-19, 28-26, 16-25, 25-20. The top scorer for the Caribs was Kowaun with 15 points. For the Panthers Michael Ferrante had 16 points and Jordan Lake had 15 kills.

 

In the Male Bronze Medal game the Barracudas defeated the Chickenhawks in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-13.

 

In the semifinal game the Central High School Caribs defeated the Charlotte Amalie High School Chickenhawks in two straight sets with scores of 25-21, 25-14. In the other semifinal game the Good Hope/Country Day School Panthers defeated the Educational Complex High School Barracudas in two straight sets with scores of 25-23, 25-18.

 

Next weekend, both teams will be back to defend their title at the Ivanna Eudora Kean Varsity Invitational Volleyball Tournament in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

  

The Female MVP's were sisters Khrysti and Khrystin Rosa of the Lady Barracudas and the Male MVP was Jordan Lake of the Panthers.
