Huge crowd in Santiago for exhibition match

SANTIAGO, Dominican Republic, July 2, 2018 – The friendly exhibition match between the Dominican Republic and Cuba resulted in a huge success at Arena del Cibao in Santago on Sunday as more than 7,000 fans crowded the stands.

The match was a warm up ahead of the Women’s Pan American Cup that starts in Santo Domingo next Sunday with the participation of twelve teams.

The Dominicans won the match 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19) but the fans enjoyed  every bit of the competition and the individual performance of the players.

Yonkara Peña eas the best Dominican scorer with 10 points, followed by Brayelin Martínez with 7 and Gina Mambru, Gaila González and Marianne Fersola each with five points.

Ailama Cese opped Cuba with 9 and Diais Pérez added 8.

The local authorities of Santiago attended the match as well as the local leaders of the Santiago Volleyball Association and the National Volleyball Federation.
