Players from 12 countries registered for Cayman Islands Beach Tournament


SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 9, 2010 – United States, Canada and Puerto Rico have registered two men’s teams to participate in the first leg of the Beach Volleyball NORCECA Circuit in Cayman Islands on March 18-21.

Players from 12 countries will take part in the opening competition of the calendar that includes a confederation’s record of thirteen stops.

Canada, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago, United States and hosts Cayman Islands will compete with entries in both genders, while Aruba and El Salvador only will participate in the men’s tournament.

It is the second straight year that Cayman Islands are hosting the competition that kicks-off the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit. The event will take place in the island of Grand Cayman.

 “We are hopeful this second tournament will be bigger and better than the previous edition,” said Noel Williams, President of the Cayman Islands Federation. “Our National Federation and the people of our country are looking forward to welcome to all the players visiting our beautiful island.”

The complete calendar of the 2010 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit is as follows:

Cayman Islands (March 18-21), El Salvador (March 25-28), Boca Chica, Dominican Republic (April 1-4), Guatemala (April 8-11), Trinidad & Tobago (May 6-9), Chiapas, Mexico (May 13-16), Boqueron, Puerto Rico (July 3-5), San Diego, USA (September 9-12), Tijuana, Mexico (September 23-26), Manzanillo, Mexico (September 30-October 3), Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (October 14-17), Varadero, Cuba (October 21-24), Nicaragua (October 28-31).
