Cayman Islands Tournament starts at Seven Miles Beach


GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, March 19, 2010 – The first leg of the 2010 NORCECA Circuit kicks off on Friday with 22 matches in both genders at Seven Miles Beach.
 

The action starts at 9:00 a.m. with Brooke Langston and Heather Lowe of USA facing Cristin Alexander and Tarasa Barnett of Cayman Islands-2 in the women’s tournament and Seth Burhanm and Lucas Wisniakowski of USA-2 playing against Fabien Whhitfield and Daneil Williams of Trinidad & Tobago in the men’s.
 

Eleven teams will be taking part in the women’s event and fourteen men teams will dispute the gold medal and the top prize of the US$10,000 total purse.
 

The women’s pairs are: Vanessa Virgen-Martha Revuelta (MEX), Brooke Lawton-Heather Lowe (USA), Natalia Alfaro-Ingrid Morales (CRC), Maria Orellana-Anna Ramírez (GUA), Yarleen Santiago-Dariam Acevedo (PUR), Jamie Broder-Kristina Valjas (CAN), Nancy Joseph-Elki Phillip (TRI), Wanda Brenton-Jennifer Bily (CAY-1), Cherine Richards-Cheryl Daley (JAM), Brenda Allen-Shanicia Dyer (SKI), Cristine Alexander-Tarasa Barnett (CAY-2).
 

The men’s pairs are: Orlando Irizarry-Joseph Gil (PUR), Ivan Mercer-Ivan Mercer (USA-1), Martin Reader-Raymond Sewell (CAN), Julio Recinos-Erik Garrido (GUA), Mark Lewis-Dany Wilson (JAM), Jeovanny Medrano-David Vargas (ESA), Shervin Rankin-Olney Thompson (CAY-1), Fabien Whitfield-Daneil Williams (TRI), Seth Burhanm-Lucas Wisniakowski (USA-2), Mitchel Daniel-Eargenell de Cuba (ARU), Daniel Erazo-Erick Hadock (PUR-2), Benjamin Saxton-Maverick Hatch (CAN-2), Andrew Gordon-Duncan Hamman (CAY-2), Shawn Seabrooks-St. Clair Hodge (SKI).

 

The Cayman Islands’ leg runs through March 19-21 and will be followed by the stages of El Salvador (March 23-29), Boca Chica, Dominican Republic (March 30-April 4) and Guatemala (April 6-12) completing tournaments valid to get points in the qualifying process to the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
