Martinique prevail in close match with Trinidad and Tobago!

 

PARAMARIBO, Suriname, April 2, 2018 - Martinique recorded its second victory in as many matches to remain undefeated at the 11th CAZOVA U21 Championship in Paramaribo, Suriname. The teams looked evenly matched as Trinidad and Tobago led the match at many points but failed to capitalize on their chances allowing Martinique to prevail.

 

Martinique won the match 3–1 (27-25, 21-25, 31-29 and 25-16) in a time of one hour and thirty nine minutes.

 

Martinique had more winners, 104 to Trinidad and Tobago’s 95, Martinique however, committed more errors 58 to and Trinidad and Tobago 44.

 

Lohan Lefaivre of Martinique scored a game high 15 points (13 Spikes and 2 Aces). Austin Geolani came of Trinidad and Tobago’s bench to score 14 points (14 Spikes).

 

COACH MARTINIQUE – Theodore Verdan said “It was a good match, we are happy we came out on top.”

 

CAPTAIN MARTINIQUE- Jimmy Mondesir said “team spirit brought us so far to gain the victory”

 

COACH TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – Sean Morrison said “They lacked consistency in their pass and serve. Martinique had a better game on the day.”

 

CAPTAIN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – Tyrique Nicholas said “Our inconsistency hurt our ability to spike. Martinique was dominant for that reason.
