Melissa & Sarah Crowned in Commonwealth Games
GOLD COAST, Australia, April 12, 2018 – Canadians Melissa
Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan won the women’s gold medal of
beach volleyball at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Coolagantta
Beach on Thursday.
Their fellows in the men’s division didn’t have the same luck as
they fell to the home team in a very tough contest.
Humana-Paredes and Pavan defeated the Australian pair of Mariafe
Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy 2-0 (21-19, 22-20) in 45
minutes of play.
The bronze medal went to Vanuatu’s Linline Matauatu and Miller
Pata who trounced Cyprus’ Mariota Angelopoulou and Manolina
Konstantinou 2-0 (21-14, 21-10) in just 34 minutes.
Canadians Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter battled for 1 hour and 1
minute before succumbing to Australians Christopher McHugh and
Damien Schumann 2-1 (21-19, 18-21, 18-16).
New Zealand’s Bean O’Dea and Sam O’Dea won the bronze medal
after a 2-0 (21-13, 21-15) victoru against England’s Chris
Gregory and Jake Sheaf in 40 minutes. |
