Mirador scores first in Dominican Final Series

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 1, 2019 – Mirador won the first match of the best-of-five Final Series of the Dominican Women’s Volleyball League by defeating defending champions Caribeñas in straight sets on Sunday.

Bethania de la Cruz and Natalia Martinez carried most of the offensive load or Mirador with 24 and 18 points, respectively, in the 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-20) victory before a crowd of about 3,000 spectators at Ricardo Gioriver Arias Pavilion in Santo Domingo.

The winners held a 9-5 advantage in blocks and 5-0 in aces while getting the edge 47-45 in attacks. De la Cruz had three aces and Geraldine Gonzalez scored with three blocks in the victory.

Erasma Moreno, Annerys Vargas and Lisvel Eve had 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the losers.

The teams meet again on Wednesday in the second match of the series.
