Mora and Lopez score two wins at Managua 2017 opening day

 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 3, 2017. - Ruben Mora and Danny Lopez of Nicaragua scored two wins in the same number of outings on opening day of the men’s Beach Volleyball tournament of the XI Central American Games at the Salvador Allende sand court in Paseo Xolotlan of Managua.

 

Ruben and Danny had little resistance from Luis Luna/Gabriel Nuñez of Belize, prevailing 2-0 (21-12, 21-12) in the opening math of the Games. Later, with support of a considerable crowd, they dominated Irvin Reyes and Manuel Serrano of Honduras 2-0 (21-14, 21-16).

 

Carlos “Tato” Escobar with David “Pepe” Vargas of El Salvador, Richard Smith with Sebastian Valenciano of Costa Rica and Andy Leonardo alongside Luis Garcia of Guatemala pocketed one victory each, in their one outing of the day.

 

Tato and Pepe defeated Reyes/Serrano of Honduras 2-0 (21-13, 21-18); Richard and Sebastian prevailed over Panama’s Davis Montero and Elmar Valdez by 2-0 (21-14, 21-8), while Andy and Luis finished 2-0 (21-8, 21-15) over Luna/Nuñez of Belize.

 

Day two of the men’s division starts with Richard Smith/Sebastian Valenciano of Costa Rica against Carlos Escobar/David Vargas of El Salvador at 11:00 am (local time).

 

The four day preliminary round-robin concludes on Wednesday December 6, with the top ranked team advancing into semifinals.
