PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, October 29, 2015 – NORCECA
Executive Committee and Board of Administration endorsed the
candidature of Brazilian Dr.
Ary S. Graça F° to
continue for a new term as president of the International
Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
The members of the two bodies held a joint meeting on Thursday
morning two days before the XXIII NORCECA Congress at Barcelo
Bavaro Palace Resort in the presence of Dr. Graça
F°, who will be
attending the confederation’s biennial assembly as special
F° was elected to
preside over the FIVB during the organization’s congress held in
Anaheim, United States on September of 2012. The next general
assembly of the world’s volleyball governing body to be held in
Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2016.
The NORCECA Executive Committee and Board of Administration
reviewed the agenda of its elective congress to take place on
October 31-November 1 as well as the one-day seminar to evaluate
the results of the development plan to be held on October 30
with the participation of all the National Federations Category
I and II.
Mushtaque Mohamed, president of the NORCECA Development
Commission, explained the agenda and procedures in place during
the seminar receiving full support of the EC and BOA. He said
all the presidents of the different zones will have the
opportunity to present the results of the development plan in
their respective regions.
The FIVB President encouraged the presidents of the zones –ECVA,
CAZOVA, AFECAVOL and Central- to set goals with specific numbers
as a way of challenging themselves while going for new
achievements saying the same tactic applies for the national
The meeting was opened by NORCECA President, Cristobal Marte
Hoffiz, who welcomed the presence of FIVB President and pointed
out the way NORCECA operates in the different departments and
the transparency in the administration of the financial incomes
and funds received from FIVB and other sources.
He said all the working documents of the XXIII NORCECA Congress,
including the audited financial statements, are posted on its
website and are available at:
Marte Hoffiz, who presides over NORCECA since 2001, is running
as a sole candidate to continue in the presidency of the
continental confederation for a new four-year term.
The Executive Committee and Board of Administration approved to
name Saul Castro Verdugo, Mireya Luis and Mohamed as scrutineers
to oversee the voting procedures and results during the
elections of the new authorities.
