NORCECA Finance Commission held its annual meeting

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 13, 2014 – The NORCECA Finance Commission held its annual meeting at NORCECA headquarters on Saturday with satisfactory results.

 

The commission presided over by Alberto Arreola of Mexico and Jesus Prieto, NORCECA Treasurer, of Puerto Rico, received detailed reports covering the annual allowance of FIVB to NORCECA, the financial assistance of FIVB to the confederation’s development plan, the participation of high performance instructors with national federations and the qualification process towards the world championships.

 

Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA, updated the audience on the recent meeting of FIVB Finance Commission in Lausanne, and praised the financial department of NORCECA for their neat and dedicated work.

 

Olga Rivas, NORCECA financial manager and Miguelina Martinez, INTERNAL al accountant, presented a review of the financial statements, the executed budget corresponding to 2013 and the projected budget for 2014. Also, they presented a comparative state and evolution of the financial position of NORCECA from 2001-2013.

 

Marilyn Perez, NORCECA general accountant, informed the commission on the assistance to different national federations and on the program of distribution of Sport Court synthetic playing surfaces to NF category I and II.

 

Rivas also presented a report of the financial assistance to the different sub-zones as well as the financial aid to national federations whose teams took part of the second phase of qualifiers to the FIVB World Championships in Italy and Poland.

 

Nelson Ramirez, director of the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Center, briefed on the activities of the center, the scholarships program, its strategy, projected program and costs.

 

Besides Arreola and Prieto, the meeting had in attendance Victor Valdez of Dominican Republic, and Earlene Joan Pereira of Trinidad & Tobago, Pamela Abreu member of the finance department staff, as well as the NORCECA Secretariat.
