National Coaches Course take place in Santo Domingo

 

   

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 1, 2016 – The NORCECA/FIVB Regional Volleyball Development in the Dominican Republic has organized a National Coaches Course at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo.

Continuing with its program of national courses taking place at the volleyball pavilion, the Dominican National Federation together with the Development Center and the financial support of NORCECA Confederation gathered together 110 coaches hailing from all the provinces and the national district of Santo Domingo.

The course is under the direction of FIVB instructor Juan Cartagena of Puerto Rico, and Wilson Sanchez of Dominican Republic, assisted by local coach Juan Bautista.

Ramón García, president of Dominican Volleyball Federation (FEDOVOLI) applauded the support from NORCECA Confederation and its president Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, stating that he hopes it continues going on for other activities. He also appreciated the collaboration from the presidents of the provincial associations for sending the participants to the course and encouraged them to promote the courses taking place in April.

Garcia also announced that former female player Cosiris Rodriguez, who is the Director of Camps of Recruiting new talents, will coordinate weekend activities in the different regions of the country accompanied by members of the senior national team. He also said the second phase of the program will include the male talents.

Arateide Caceres Hernandez, who attended the opening ceremony representing NORCECA Confederation, congratulated the Dominican Federation for this initiative while stating that “it is part of the goals pursued by NORCECA in its development plan.”

Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, said the development of the sport is in direct connection with the coaches.

“In today’s world our institutions must think in two main tasks, strategy and education, and the Regional Development Center, a role model in the world, is the scenario we need to accomplish them,” Mejia Oviedo said.

A Beach Volleyball Course National Course is scheduled to take place next from April 7 to 10.
