New match format and rules to be tested at U23 Worlds

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 24, 2017 – A new match volleyball format and a couple of rules will tested at the FIVB U23 Men’s and Women’s World Championships following a decision of FIVB Board of Administration held in Morocco.

 

The new match format will be a best-of-seven contest with each set to a maximum of 15 points or a two-point advantage.

The new rules to be tested refer to the jump services and the attacks from the back row.

 

In the serve, after touching the ball the player must land before the service line and in the back row attack the player must land before the three meters line.

 

Cuba and Mexico are the NORCECA teams qualified to the Men’s U23 World Championship in Egypt while Dominican Republic and Cuba are qualified to the Women’s U23 World Championship in Slovenia.
