PUR and TTO tie for third highest scoring match

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 9, 2018 – The five-set match won by Puerto Rico over Trinidad & Tobago on Monday ranks as the third highest scoring match in the history of the Women’s Pan American Cup.

The two teams totaled 226 points in the 30-28, 25-20, 21-25, 26-28, 15-8 victory of Puerto Rico, tying the total reached by Cuba and Puerto Rico on June 19, 2015 with the Cubans prevailing 25-19, 23-25, 29-27, 23-25, 16-14), in Lima and Callao, Perú.

The record for the Women’s Pan American Cup is 235 when the Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico 34-36, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-9) on July 3, 2009 in Miami, USA.

Cuba edged Dominican Republic on June 20, 2010 by scores of 31-29, 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12 for a total of 227 points in Rosarito and Tijuana, Mexico
