President Medina accepts to be Patron of the Pan Am Cup

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 3, 2018 – The President of the Dominican Republic, H.E. Danilo Medina has accepted the nomination as Patron of the Women’s Pan American Cup by Viva and will attend the opening ceremony next Sunday July 8 at Ricardo Arias Pavilion in Santo Domingo.

Ramón García, president of the Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation made the announcement on Monday night during the official launching of the event held at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The Women’s Pan American Cup runs from July 8 to 14 with teams and officials arriving from July 6 and departing on July 15.

Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of the Female Program of the Dominican Federation, introduced each one of the members of the national team and explained the importance of the competition which grants five tickets to next year’s Pan American Games.

The activity began with the welcome words by Major General Elvis Feliz Pérez, Vice Minister of the Armed Forces, who presides over the Organizing Committee.

Feliz Perez highlighted the fact that the Pan American Cup represents a big festivity of volleyball and called the event as a Fiesta Americana. He also underlined the quality of the Dominican team and how it has become a brand of the country.

Also spoke Marcos Herrera Beato, president of Viva Communications who said “is of great satisfaction and joy to join forces with the Dominican Federation as the official sponsors”. He added that Copa Viva will generate a lot of interest among the fans who will attend the matches to support their team.”
