Rican Minister of Recreation and Sports visits NORCECA
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 1, 2014 - The Minister
of Sports and Recreation of Puerto Rico, Ramon Enrique Orta, was
at the headquarters of the NORCECA Confederation on Tuesday as
part of his two-day visit to the Dominican Republic.
Orta was greeted by NORCECA Executive Director, Nelson Ramirez,
along with directors of various departments of the continental
organization that governs volleyball and beach volleyball in
North, Central America and the Caribbean.
The high-ranked Puerto Rican official received explanations from
Ramirez about the NORCECA operations in the region and its
development programs in the short, medium and long term.
Orta was particularly interested in knowing about the training
programs of coaches for the school level and the development of
beach volleyball in the primary age levels.
Orta said the Ministry of Recreation and sports is interested in
establishing working plans with the national federations of
Puerto Rico as well as international institutions to which they
are linked.
Several directors like Roosevelt Comarazamy (Communications),
Indhira Ramirez (Beach Volleyball), Arateide Cáceres (National
Federations) and Olga Rivas (Finance) explained the
distinguished guest the functioning of their respective
departments.
At a joint meeting in the executive room of NORCECA, Ramirez
made a full presentation of the activities of the organization
in 2013 and the program that has been implemented for this year.
Ramirez put special emphasis on the assistance program that
performs NORCECA for development of beach volleyball in the
National Federations of categories I and II, as well as
donations of synthetic surfaces for both indoor volleyball and
outdoor.
At the end of the meeting, Orta expressed his satisfaction for
the information he was able to get as well as the hospitality he
enjoyed during his visit to the facilities of NORCECA and wished
for the establishment of more close relationship in the interest
of contributing to the development of volleyball and beach
volleyball Puerto Rico. |
