Puerto Rico sprays 31 aces in first win

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, September 2, 2016 -  Puerto Rico recorded 31 aces in a quick victory 3-0 over French St. Maarten in the nightcap of first day at the NORCECA U-18 Championship .

 
Puerto Rico dominated the match (25-5, 25-4, 25-4) against an inexperienced Caribbean squad that was making their first appearance at this level.

 
"I expected a quick game, they are a developing team. We have more strength in our game, I hope the group will continue raising its competitive level,  because we need to play more in this level”, explained Puerto Rican coach,  Ariel Ortiz Morell.

 

Meanwhile, Jean Lizic French St. Maarten said: "It was a very bad game for my team. We have not been able to work as a group by problems to arrive before the tournament. Now we have to think about tomorrow.”


Lorraine Lopez led Puerto Rico with 11 points (7 aces) and Aline Rios had six points, all by services.
