Puerto Rico and Cuba women advance undefeated with 4-0 records

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, July 3, 2021 – Puerto Ricans Allanis Navas and María González and Cubans Lázara Madán and Dayani Zequeira recorded perfect 4-0 records to win pools A and B, respectively, at the NORCECA U-23 Beach Volleyball Qualifier to the Junior Pan American Games to take place in Cali, Colombia from November 25 to December 5.

The duo of Navas/Gonzalez won their two matches of Saturday in Pool A over Costa Rica’s Katherine Albarran/Atenas Gutiérrez 2-0 (21-10, 21-12) and Dominican Republic-A’s Julibeth Payano/Deanny de la Cruz 2-0 (21-xx, 21-xx).

Madán/Zequeira, who had won three matches on Friday’s opening day, triumphed on early Saturday over Paola Alvarado and Laura Quiñones 2-0 (21-12, 21-19) in a decisive contest between undefeated pairs.
