SAITAMA, Japan, September 28, 2018 – Players of Puerto Rico women’s national team departed to Hamamatsu with a good flavor in their mouths after closing their training period in Saitama with a five-set victory over the local team Ageo Medics that participates in the Japanese V League.

The score of the roller coaster match was 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 25-20, 19-25 15-11) before traveling to Hamamatsu to play in Pool D of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship.

The team of Puerto Rico scored 19 points via blocks and also showed a very good offensive service.

“I am satisfied with the job done by the group as we fulfilled the goals planned for this training camp,” said Coach José Mieles. “The blocking left its mark Diana did an excellent job with quick movements to reach the corners. We have to continue working with the serves but we had good moments.”

Puerto Rico debuts against Brazil on September 29. The other teams in Pool D are Kazakhstan, Kenya, Serbia and Dominican Republic.
