Punta Cana Event dedicated to Comarazamy

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, September 24, 2018 – The Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament, the fourth stage of the 2018 NORCECA Circuit, will be dedicated to journalist Roosevelt Comarazamy, Communications director of the continental governing body.

Ernesto Veloz, president of the Organizing Committee, made the announcement accompanied by Amos Anglade who is the manager of the tournament.

In dedicating the tournament to Comarazamy, who has been the NORCECA Communications director since 2003, they want to recognize his contribution to the development of beach volleyball and the establishment of Punta Cana as an annual stop in the NORCECA Calendar.

This is the third consecutive year of Punta Cana as part of the circuit and 21 pairs of each gender, representing 16 countires, will be taking part of the competition to be disputed from September 28 to 30.

Cubans Lianma Flores and Leila Martínez and Canadians Julie Gordon and Sophie Bukovec won the previous tournaments in the women’s division while Cubans Karel Peña and Daisel Quesada and United States’ Miles Evans and William Kolinske triumphed in the men’s event.

Evans and Kolinske are registered to defend their crown as also are last year’s runners up Sergey Grabovsky and Fiodar Khazamiaka of Canada. Cuban Karel Peña will partner Luis Reyes for this tournament.
