Punta Cana proposed as next venue of World Congress

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, October 6, 2016 - The 35th FIVB World Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina ended on Thursday after Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic was proposed as the venue for the 36th edition which is scheduled to take place from October 27-28, 2018.

The FIVB World Congress, the federation's supreme governing body, is held every two years. The 2018 edition of the FIVB Congress will be the first edition to be held in the Dominican Republic.

The proposal was presented by Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA Confederation, and was received with enthusiasm by the delegates representing 200 national federations.

The Barcelo Punta Cana Convention Center, in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, has played host to several NORCECA Congresses over the past decade.

In 2010, the FIVB Board of Administration and Executive Committee meetings took place in the famous tourism resort.
