Rangel named MVP of Week 4 in PR

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, February 19, 2019 – Andrea Rangel of Changas de Naranjito earned the honors as Most Valuable Player of the fourth week of the Puerto Rican Women’s Volleyball Superior League.

 

Rangel scored 24, 15 and 25 points, respectively, in the three victories of Changas who top the standings with 29 points (10-0). The opposite attacker leads the league in scoring (196) and attacks (163).

 

Rangel was included in the Ideal Team of the Week joining Karina Ocasio (Criollas de Caguas) and Noami Santos (Naranjito) the two Outside Hitters.

 

Neira Ortiz (Polluelas of Aibonito), who had nine blocks for the week to increase her leading total to 34, and Alba Hernandez (Amazonas de Trujillo Alto) were named as the two middle blockers.

 

Jennymar Santiago of Changas, was included for the first time as setter of the Ideal Team, while veteran Debora Seilhamer (Aibonito) was named the Libero with an overall effectiveness of 10.13 to go with 217 digs and 178 passes.

 

On the other hand, six matches took place over the weekend in the Junior League as preliminary contest before the Superior League encounters.

 

Juncos lead the standings with a 3-2 record followed by Toa Baja and Trujillo Alto with 2-1. Caguas and Aibonito are sitting at 2-2 with Naranjito 1-2 and Mayaguez completing the table at 2-0.
