St. Lucia males reach semi-finals ECVA Youth undefeated
ST JOHN’S, Antigua - April 18, 2014, St Lucia had to dig deep
into their mental and physical reserve to ward off a determined
Bermuda to reach the semi- finals of male segment the Eastern
Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Youth Championships .
St Lucia was taken to the brink, but prevailed in a five-setter
3-2 (25-13, 23-25, 25-13, 20-25, 15-15).
Characterised by rallies, aces as well as powerful, neither team
gave up points easily nor were the given, kept patrons on the
edge of their seats throughout.
The win left St Lucia with seven points; Bermuda – five points
and French St Martin – three points.
It was the second match of the day which went the distance as
Bermuda had to claw back from two sets down to outdo French St
Martin 3-2 (25-27, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-8).
And, in the night capper, Antigua and Barbuda outlasted Grenada
3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 22-25, 17-25, 15-12) in another action packed
contest between two evenly matched outfits.
St Vincent and the Grenadines headed that segment of the draw
with nine points; Antigua and Barbuda – three points and Grenada
– two points. |
