Successful First Day of FIVB Board of Administration in Egypt

 

SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt, May 3, 2018 – The FIVB Board of Administration meeting, chaired by FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F°, opened today in Egypt.

 

There were a number of distinguished guests present, including the governor of South Sinai, Khaled Fouda, and member of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and President of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation, Khaled Naseif.

 

Governor Fouda opened the meeting by welcoming the FIVB Board of Administration to Sharm El Sheikh and Egypt, stressing the importance of holding the meeting in the country.


"First of all, I would like to thank the FIVB for accepting our invitation to host the Executive and Board of Administration meetings in Sharm El Sheikh, the city of peace. It is a great honour for me to address the international volleyball family today and I would like to assure you that Sharm El Sheikh is a great location with amazing climate and resorts, and good security.


"I am sure that holding these important meetings here in Egypt will help us to continue the growth of volleyball and beach volleyball in the county. I have already had a meeting with Dr Ary Graça and we agreed for Sharm El Sheikh to host a high-level beach volleyball event later this year. I am sure this will ensure the future development of the sport in the country."


FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° praised the hospitality of Sharm El Sheikh:


"We are delighted to be here in Egypt today and receive such a warm welcome from the local authorities.

"The FIVB continues to develop volleyball, beach volleyball, and now snow volleyball, introducing the new technology, educating the fans and spectators and getting them more engaged with the sport. With the new professional competition, Volleyball Nations League (VNL), starting in 12 days, we look forward to revolutionizing our sport, bringing new experience and content to the fans around the world.


"We are going through the digital transformation that is crucial for our development. We also continue working on the FIVB Nucleus Plan, that was approved by the FIVB Board of Administration, to bring our sport to the new markets as well as develop the existing relations."


During the meeting, the FIVB Board of Administration supported the digital transformation of the FIVB and reviewed the Federation's achievements and initiatives, including the updates on the VNL.


The members also reviewed the FIVB financial and legal matters with the International Federation putting the principles of good governance and management at the heard of its activities.


The meeting will continue tomorrow with the proposals of the FIVB Commissions and the updates on the FIVB key event, including the upcoming FIVB Volleyball World Championships.
