 Team Canada Arrive in Baja California for MU21WCH

 

   

TIJUANA, Mexico, August 30, 2015 - The National U21 Team of Canada arrived in Baja California for a training camp prior the beginning of the FIVB Men’s U21 World Championship.

 

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, Baja California Sports and Physical Culture Director, Saul Castro Verdugo welcomed the delegation represented by team manager Dave Mcallister.

 

The Canadians are coached by John Barrett, who begins his second year in charge of this category. During the World Championship process, Canada won the silver medal at the Continental qualifier that was played in El Salvador, where the team claimed the honors to play at the FIVB Men’s U21 competition.

 

Canada also arrive to this Age Group World Championship after winning the Bronze medal at the U21 Pan American Cup that was celebrated in Gatineau, Quebec.

 

Coach Barrett was a member of the Canadian team that played at the  Olympic  Games of Los Angeles 1984, as well as the 1983 Pan Am Games celebrated in Caracas, Venezuela, as well as the FIVB World Championship that was held in Brazil.

 

This team was also the base of the squad that played at the FISU Games played in Gwangju, South Korea. The Canadian U21 unit is expected to have a media presentation on Monday afternoon at the High Performance Centre after holding their first training sessions.
