Teams of USA and Canada in semifinals of Boca Chica

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, October 5, 2019 – The teams of Canada and United States will face each other in the semifinals of the Hamaca Finals NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tournament on Sunday morning.

Starting at 10:00, Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter of Canada-A will clash with countrymen Grant O’Gorman and Simon Fecteau-Boutin in court two, while in court one Jacob Gibb and Taylor Crabb of United States-A will compete against Ryan Doherty and Miles Evans of United States-B.

Gibb/Crabb advanced after a 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) triumph over Josué Gaxiola and José Luis Rubio of Mexico-B, while Doherty/Evans entered the final four round when the Mexico-A team of Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen was unable to play due a fractured right middle finger suffered by Virgen in their last match of the preliminary round against Dominican Republic-A.

In the quarterfinals, Pedlow/Schachter stormed past Puerto Rico’s Cristian Encarnación and Juan Ribas 2-0 (21-12, 21-13), while O’Gorman/Fecteau-Boutin rolled over Nicaragua’s Dany Lopez and Gerson Contreras 2-0 (21-17, 21-10).
