Twenty-four beach teams per gender to compete in Barranquilla

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 16, 2017 – Twenty-four teams per gender will take part in the beach volleyball tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held next year in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The announcement was made by the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Department on Friday morning.

The increase of teams show the progress and growth experienced by beach volleyball in the past few years within the confederation.

The beach volleyball program at the Central American and Caribbean Games started with eight teams per gender and has increased to twelve, then sixteen and now for the first time will feature the top 24 teams per gender from NORCECA and Venezuela and Colombia, the South American countries who are part of CACSO.

Twenty-five teams from NORCECA Confederation will take part in the next FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship to be held in Vienna, Austria.
