Two Canadian Teams to meet in semis at Ocho Rios

OCHO RIOS, Jamaica, June 24, 2017 – The two teams representing Canada at Ocho Rios Beach Volleyball Tournament, the third tournament of the year in the NORCECA Circuit, will face each other in the semifinals to be held on Sunday.

Jamie Broder and Sophie Bukovec of Canada-A will play against Helen Rancour and Sarah Meunier-Bedard of Canada-B while Kearisa Cook and Katie Spieler of United States-B will face Cuba’s Lianma Flores and Yanisleidis Sanchez.

Broder and Bukovec won their quarterfinals match against Mexicans Zaira Orellana and Stephanie Burnside 2-0 (21-13, 21-13) while Rancour and Meunier-Bedard dispatched Puerto Ricans Lina Bernier and Eva Torruella 2-0 (21-19, 21-17).

Cook and Spieler advanced to the final four stage with a 2-0 (21-18, 21-18) victory over Natalia Girón and Estefanie Bethancourt of Guatemala while Flores and Sanchez outplayed Jace Pardon and Lara Dykstra of USA-A 2-0 (21-18, 25-23).
