Two new Beach Volleyball courts in Guatemala

 

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 25, 2014 - The Sports Confederation of Guatemala constructed two new beach volleyball courts at Teodoro Palacios Flores Sports Complex in Guatemala City.

 

The Guatemalan Volleyball Federation now has more beach volleyball facilities to contribute to the expansion and practice of this sports discipline, which in the past years has gained great popularity.

 

Guatemala hosted this year the AFECAVOL Youth Olympic Beach Volleyball Qualification and two stages of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour; reason enough to have better and improved facilities, which cost of twenty five thousand dollars, was sponsored by the Sports Confederation of Guatemala.

 

The courts, just a hundred meters from the Alfonso Gordillo Volleyball Complex, were inaugurated by Mr. Dennis Alonso President of the Sports Confederation of Guatemala, Mr. Gerardo Aguirre President of Guatemalan Olympic Committee, Mrs. Marta Centeno President of AFECAVOL and Mr. Enrique Santis President of Guatemalan Volleyball Federation.

 

The sports representatives agreed that the results of Guatemala’s athletes have been rewarding and they have great expectations for the future, with Guatemala qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz and in route to the Pan American Games qualification, therefore the need to provide better conditions. 

 

Centeno stressed on the positive impact of the new courts.

 

 “Guatemala has kept an important position in NORCECA ranking and providing better conditions their athletes must improve the results. It gives me great satisfaction and on behalf of Cristobal Marte Hoffiz President of NORCECA, we welcome this initiative and encourage the Guatemalan Volleyball Federation to continue in its efforts of development and expansion,” she said.

 

Exhibition matches between Guatemala’s National Beach Volleyball teams closed the ceremony.
