U18 Final Four Cup to start off on Friday

LIMA, Peru, August 3, 2017 – The U18 Girls Final Four Cup by Herbalife gets underway with teams from defending champions Argentina, vice champions Dominican Republic, bronze medalists Peru and Cuba each playing two matches on Friday.

All matches will be held at the traditional Manuel Bonilla Coliseum of Miraflores, Lima.

Dominican Republic plays Argentina and Peru meets Cuba in the morning session with the Dominicans challenging the Cubans and hosts Peruvians meeting the Argentineans in the evening session.

In Saturday, Cuba goes against Argentina and Dominican Republic battles Peru to conclude the preliminary phase.

The teams placed third and fourth will play for the bronze medal on Sunday while the team in first and second positions will battle for the title.

In 2015, when the competition also took place in Lima, Argentina came out winners with a 3-2 (25-18, 25-21, 17-25, 21-25, 15-9) victory over Dominican Republic.

Maria Corbalan, who had 22 points in the victory, was named the most valuable player as she took home also the honors as best server.

Peru claimed the bronze medal with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 18-25, 25-19) victory over Baja California of Mexico.
