SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 15, 2021 – United States swept Canada 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-18) to remain undefeated after three outings at the Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup. The Canadians fell to a 2-1 win-loss record.

The American side held the advantage in blocks (9-3) and aces (7-2) while committing 23 unforced errors compared to 35 by the Canadian team.

Danielle Cuttino was the main offensive and defensive weapon for United States with 12 points, including a tournament-high 6 blocks. Symone Williams-Abbott added 8 while Shelly Stafford, Lindsay Stalzer and Allison Bastianelli chipped in with 6 points apiece.

Nyadholi Thokbuom topped the scoring of Canada with 9 points, followed by Hillary Howe and Melissa Langegger each with 7 points.

Karch Kiraly, coach of United States: “Our team has a lot of reasons to feel proud about. We keep playing better every day. We are very happy with the job done by our young setter Elle Glock as this is her first international appearance. All our victories have been the result of a team effort.”

Shannon Winzer, coach of Canada: “We didn’t play well today. We made a lot of errors both with the serves and the reception. And when you have a bad start against a team like USA always you are going to lose.”
