USA blank Thailand to finish with 12-3 mark

EKATERINBURG, Russia, June 20, 2019 – Defending champions United States swept Thailand 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-17) to finish the pool play of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations with a 12-3 win-loss record.

The United States are one of six teams who are qualified to the finals of the competition in Nanjing, China. Other qualified teams are Brazil, Italy, Turkey, Poland and host China.

The Americans outblocked their opponents 15-2 and led in aces 5-2 and attacks 48-35. The Thais only made 7 errors to 10 by the winners.

Karsta Lowe had 20 points as the leading scorer for the United States with four other players also reaching double digits – Lauren Gibbemeyer, Haleigh Washington and Kelsey Robinson each contributed 12 points while Jordan Larson chipped in with 10.

Washington finished with five blocks while Lowe and Gibbemeyer each had four blocks in their tally.
