USA teams to meet in men’s semifinals

 

KRALENDIJK, Bonaire, September 27, 2019 - USA-A and USA-B men´s main draw semifinals after winning their quarterfinal matches in straight sets at the Seventh Leg of the 2019 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Circuit.

 

First up, USA-A duo, Kyle Friend and Travis Mewhirter held off El Salvadorans Franklin Flores and David Vargas 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) in their quarterfinal, while USA-B combination of Kristopher Johnson and Christopher Austin overcame St Kitts and Nevis´ St Clair Hodge and Shawn Seabrookes 2-0 (21-6, 21-13) to set up a semifinal which assures one USA team in with a chance at the gold medal.

 

Canadas´s Simon Fecteau-Boutin and Ivan Reka defeated Trinidad and Tobago´s Daneil Williams 2-1 (16-21, 21-19, 15-13) in their quarterfinal and will come up against Mexico´s Jose Luis Rubio and Josue Gaston Gaxiola in the other semifinal after the latter who outplayed Nicaraguans Alejandro Ruben Mora and Antonio Dany Lopez 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) in their quarterfinal.

 

When round-robin pool play resumed on Friday morning, Mexicans Rubio and Gaxiola (1-1) ended second in Pool A behind Friend and Mewhirter (2-0) by beating US Virgin Islands´ Brian Kwansy and Gabriel Ospina Rodriguez 2-0 (21-16, 21-10)

 

In Pool B, Mora and Lopez (2-0) outlasted Flores and Vargas 2-0 (25-23, 21-16) in their pool decider, Williams and Phillip also topped Pool C after taking a 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) win over previously unbeaten Hodge and Seabrookes while in Pool D, Johnson and Austin brushed aside Curacao´s Ernaldo Mota and Jurcham Meulens, 2-0 (21-14, 21-14) to end 3-0.
